Cookie policy

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. Some are needed to make a site work at all. Others are there to count visitors, or to follow people between websites and advertise at them.

We use Google Analytics to see how the site is doing: which pages people arrive on, roughly where they came from, and which pages they leave from.

It sets cookies, so you are asked the first time you visit and nothing runs unless you say yes. If you decline, the analytics code is never loaded at all and no request is made to Google. Declining changes nothing else about the site.

What it collects is kept for 14 months. We look at it to work out which pages are worth improving. We are not trying to identify anybody, and we do not use it for advertising.

Both are set by Google Analytics and only after you have accepted. Nothing else on this site stores anything on your device, beyond a note of the answer you gave so we do not keep asking.

The site is served through Cloudflare, which keeps brief records of requests so the site stays up and attacks can be blocked. That is a server log rather than a cookie: nothing is stored on your device, and it is not used to build a picture of you.

Whatever any website tells you, your browser has the final say. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually under Settings and then Privacy. Blocking them everywhere will break some sites, though it would not break this one.
